It’s been a heck of a year, and one I think many of us didn’t expect if you asked on December 31, 2021 what we’d be expecting. The markets were broadly down, with the exception of a few sectors like oil. Crypto took a huge tumble, TSLA 0.00%↑ is way down (of course Elon now owns Twitter), and rates rose at a fast clip.
I generally kept the majority of my investments, adding at lower points along the way. My index funds are down about 7%, but I was able to add a good amount to them at a good price on average. I added a couple positions to include LOW 0.00%↑ and SBUX 0.00%↑ and added to others such as TGT 0.00%↑ , ABBV 0.00%↑ , ABT 0.00%↑ , and WFC 0.00%↑ .
In my retirement accounts I added over $19,000 to my 401k and $3,000 to my IRA. This is on pace with my goals on taxable and nontaxable contributions.
I added monthly to my daughter’s 529 plan, and also opened a brokerage account for her where I’ve added to a dividend focused fund.
Overall I was able to grow my projected annual dividend income well.
I don’t have quite as much cash sitting on the sidelines as I did heading into 2022, but I am working on increasing that position as any other buying opportunities arise.
How did your 2022 turn out?
